Minnesota Biome Hike

Enrichment Adult / Fitness -
AE 2425 Summer

This two-mile guided nature walk will allow you to experience habitats found within the three biomes of our state – the deciduous forest, the coniferous forest and the prairie. A Minnesota Master Naturalist Instructor will guide you through a tamarack bog, oak woodland and restored prairie and describe the plant communities, creatures and ecological processes present in the Linwood School Forest.

The history of the Linwood School Forest as well as the current partnerships, collaborations, research and service-learning will be presented. Attendees will learn how to set up a trail camera and how to age trees. There will be multiple opportunities to stop and rest to listen and look for birds as well as other animals living in this forest. Wear sturdy walking shoes and bring water, snacks and binoculars, if you have them.

Please park at the lot on the north end of the forest.
