History: Down & Dirty: The Ugly Thirties

Enrichment Adult / Home -
AE 2324 Summer
The 1929 stock market crash wiped out many people’s savings. Our nation spiraled down into a Great Depression. Federal troops were sent to attack American WWI veterans. All this was accompanied by the Dust Bowl years that literally blew farmers’ land away along with their livelihoods. Learn about the causes of these calamities, and hear the stories of those who suffered and survived through the ugly 1930s.

Kathleen Simmer

Kathy Simmer taught in the St. Paul Public Schools and was very interested in historical research. Upon retirement she began teaching classes on American history topics in several suburbs and for various organizations. She likes to include the details that are often left out of the history books.

Kathy's portion of the class fee is donated to the Alzheimer's Association or the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research.  Thank you.
