Beginner Stained Glass Suncatchers

Enrichment Adult / Arts -
AE 2526 Fall

Here’s your chance to learn to make stained glass and go home with a couple creations to decorate your windows. Choose from the patterns and glass provided to create 2-4 small glass suncatchers. Learn all the steps of cutting a pattern, scoring and breaking glass, grinding, foiling, and soldering. Students will leave with hands on experience in all the basic steps to creating any stained glass window. All tools and glass will be provided.

Please wear shirts with a crew neck and hard finish like denim or t-shirt material; chips of glass will stick in sweaters or fleece. Most of the glass chips will end up by your feet so wear shoes with a closed toe and a hard sole (no Crocs).  Safety glasses will be provided, but bring your reading glasses.

A supply fee of $20 is payable to the instructor at class.

Ages 15-17 allowed with registered adult.

Lisa Schwartz

I was introduced to the art of stained glass through a Community Ed class in 1979 and have slowly perfected my craft over the years. I have designed and fabricated: sidelights, transoms, skylights, octagons, boxes, small hanging panels, suncatchers, four large installations in churches and only one lamp. I started teaching about ten years and really enjoy the excitement my students bring to the table. I strive to make the craft fun and easy for students so they leave confident that they can carry on and do it themselves.
