  • Introduction to Dragon Boat Racing for Women

    Try the exhilarating sport of Dragon Boat Racing! Soaring down a race course in a long, narrow, canoe-like boat, 20 paddlers moving in synchronicity toward that finish line, is a feeling like nothing else! Here’s an opportunity to enjoy learning this sport, meet new people and spend time on our beautiful White Bear Lake! Try it out! There will be four weekly training sessions with a race and catered picnic on the last day! Paddles, boat and life jackets provided (though if you have your own life jacket, please bring it) Requirements: At least age 18 AND have a basic level of fitness. When: Practice is on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 8:00pm June 11, 18, 25, July 9 Race Day: July 13 from 8:00am - 12:00 pm Location: Practices at Matoska Park in White Bear Lake Race Day at Phalen Regional Park, St. Paul The fee covers training, coaching, equipment, t-shirt, race day lunch picnic, and the race. IF THE CLASS IF FULL, please put your name on the waitlist! We be trying to fill two teams and the other team may have room. NOTE: To receive a refund, minus a processing fee, you must withdraw from an activity at least 14 business days prior to the first day of the activity. If under the 14 days, a refund is not available unless we can fill your spot.

    Learn easy daily life changes, overall view of bladder function, and exercises to improve bladder and bowel incontinence. These simple changes and exercises have improved the quality of life for many people both male and female. The exercises that will be taught help benefit the pelvic floor, muscles, low back pain, balance, and circulation. Materials included: TheraBand, exercise ball, and handouts.

This class is for you; the people who care for people on the Autism Spectrum or just want to understand Autism better. The first class will cover basic Autism Education and the second class will cover some things you can do in your everyday life to help remediate Autism.

    Join us in visiting the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis! The market is home to over 50 vendors including specialty produce and grocery items, and locally made jewelry and crafts. It also has a wide array of restaurants featuring gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, and kid-friendly options. We will start our morning with a guided historical tour of the market, then we will explore, shop, and eat on our own.

    Join us for a half-day session and learn why fishing is so fun! You will learn about the basics of fishing using a spinning rod and reel. You will be taught how to put on line, tie a lure, and cast into water from the shore. The entire class will be held at a local lake so that you will practice casting into water and hopefully have a chance to catch a fish. After taking this class, you will be ready to go fishing. NOTE: The Instructor will provide: Fishing Rods, Reels, Casting Plugs, Bait Be sure to bring your fishing license. Students under 16 need to be registered with an adult.

All this was accompanied by the Dust Bowl years that literally blew farmers’ land away along with their livelihoods. Learn about the causes of these calamities, and hear the stories of those who suffered and survived through the ugly 1930s.

This style of walking will increase your heart rate and create resistance to build better bone density while working your upper body as well as your legs.     Join us in the boat to learn how to fish for largemouth bass on White Bear Lake. You will learn how to catch largemouth bass using multiple fishing techniques: Drop Shot, Ned Rig, and Wacky Rig. We will provide the rods, reels, lines, and lures for you to use in the class. Life Jackets will also be provided but feel free to bring your own. NOTE: Students age 6-15 will need to be with registered adult. Students 16+ will need a fishing license. Dress accordingly to weather. Bring any snacks / water you might need.

    During this class you will learn how to manage pictures on your computer and how to name, rename, and move pictures into folders to get organized. We will look at using the Photo Gallery and minor editing of pictures, such as cropping and making enhancements. Also learn to use pictures for desktop backgrounds and insert a picture into Microsoft Word to manipulate for flyers, invitations, and other printed materials. This class is not for Apple/Mac users. This is a great opportunity to tour one of Minnesota’s most popular outdoor museums and see the iconic landmarks for yourself. Join us on a fun day trip to explore more than 60 sculptures from the Walker’s collection on 11 scenic acres in the heart of Minneapolis. We will spend an hour exploring the museum grounds, then head to Brit’s Pub for a catered buffet lunch on their well-known patio. For over thirty years Brit's Pub has been Minneapolis's own little corner of the UK.     Enjoy a 2-hour immersive and meditative forest bathing walk. We will slow down and connect our senses to the healing, stress-reducing beauty of the forest. We will slip away from our phones and revive our relationship with nature and ourselves via unique, experiential invitations. We will share what we notice with each other, incorporating our experiences into our memory to tap again when we may need them. We will re-enter the tame world, renewed and refreshed. Guests should wear boots/shoes, clothing/gear appropriate for weather. Walk will be held in the rain and snow, but not thunderstorms or negative temperatures. Please wear/bring mosquito/tick repellent and sunscreen if desired. Please bring water if you would like to have some available throughout the walk.
