Shinrin-Yoku: The Art of Mindfulness & Meditation with Nature – A Three-Part Practicum

Enrichment Adult / Health -
AE 2526 Fall

Shinrin-Yoku 森林浴, also known as forest bathing or eco-therapy, is the Japanese wellness practice that fosters a deeper connection with the natural world through mindfulness and sensory engagement.

The series introduces participants to grounding exercises, breath work, sensory awareness, meditation with nature, mindful walking, light yoga stretches/mindful movement, and tea meditation. The first two sessions are held indoors and focus on the history, principles, and wellness benefits of Shinrin-Yoku, with time to explore these practices in a classroom setting. The third session is a two-hour guided outdoor immersion in nature.
