  • Baseball- Boys Recreation (Grades 1-5)

    Youth Rec Baseball is for boys currently in grades 1-5. Practices will start mid May, with games scheduled to start the first week in June. Your season will run from mid May to late July. Games and practices will be at local WBL fields throughout the week. Players will register for their current grade level. Games nights are Tuesday and Thursday. Grades 1 & 2- Coach Pitch ($109.00) Grades 3 - 5- Kid Pitch ($119.00) ** Registration will close April 30. Head coaches choose time and location of practice.   • Bear Down Boys Basketball Camp

    Welcome to the 2024 Bear Down Basketball Camp! Each sessions will focus on ball handling, shooting, finishing at the basket and reading defenses. Participants will also be engaged in 1-on-1, 2-on-2, and 3-on-3 competitive activities. Players should have experience playing either in the rec leagues or traveling programs. Each camper will receive a t-shirt!     This popular track camp has been running for over 30 years! Coached by Tom Paulson, varsity track coach, the camp will improve athletic ability by doing the many different coordination drills. High jump, long jump, triple jump, hurdles, and sprints will be taught. Please bring a water bottle. A camp t-shirt will be included. Our trained high school instructors will make learning fun with exciting drills, mini-games, and friendly competition that promotes sportsmanship and teamwork. By the end, you'll be a confident player ready to score some goals, but more importantly, you'll have learned the value of cooperation and a love for soccer!   • Coach Led Open Gym (Grades 10-12)

    Coach led open gyms will give the players the opportunity to get hundreds of reps focused on enhancing specific volleyball skills as well as game play skills. We will have the high school coaches teaching all levels the universal expectations for skills that players will use everyday on the court. These skills sessions are focused on producing and enhancing technique in our players skills in a more controlled environment.

    The elementary camp is a 4-day fundamental skills training camp aimed to introduce and improve your overall skills. Be ready to work hard, challenge yourself and have some fun all while learning the basic skills of volleyball. Open to boys and girls K-5.

    Girls Summer Youth Basketball Camps - The focus will be on shooting, ball skills and finishing moves. Great opportunity to focus on improving individual game.   • Lil' Cubs Football Camp

    This popular camp is for students who have completed grades 1 - 7 and love the game of football! We will work on the fundamentals such as 3-point stance, tackling (bags), throwing and catching while learning about sportsmanship and teamwork. We will also focus on leadership, self confidence, physical movement and how to be a student athlete. Students should dress in athletic clothing and wear either athletic shoes or cleats. This is a non-contact football camp: no tackling will be involved, and kids will be divided up by age. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite football jersey. A flag football game will be played at the end of each day. As always, we hope to have Gopher football players join us!
  • Little Sluggers

    Little Sluggers- This program is for children that will be entering Kindergarten in the 2024-2025 school year (ages 4 & 5). This is a 6 week introductory program to the game of t-ball. Little Sluggers will meet one time per week from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Morning sessions will run from 9 am to 10 am at Otter Lake Elementary. All participants will receive a t shirt. Cancellations due to inclement weather will not be made up. There will be no session the week of July 4th. We will focus on promoting team work, FUNdamentals, and sportsmanship. - Mornings Sessions will be at Otter Lake Elementary - Evening sessions will be at Lincoln Elementary Registration: March 1st - June 9th (Sessions do fill up so don't wait long to get signed up) ** This is program is driven by parent volunteer coaches-- Coaches are needed!

    Welcome to the new MS Intramural program! Our main goal is to provide new sports offerings directly after school for all students in grades 6-8. Options are: Ultimate Frisbee (Fall & Spring) NEW! Flag Football (Fall & Spring) NEW! Boys Volleyball (Spring) NEW! Soccer (Spring) Hopefully more sports to be added! ** Cost per activity- $25.00 ** Sports physicals are not needed for these activites Both middle schools (Central & Sunrise) will come together to participate. Busing transportation is provided between each school. Programs will run twice a week directly after school from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm-- Check your program specific dates.

We will focus on FUN, individual skill, fitness, and sportsmanship, providing an opportunity for children to be challenged through fun games and team interaction.     Softball- Girls Recreation (Grades 1-12)

    White Bear Lake Community Services & Recreation is offering girls Slow Pitch Softball for grades 2-12. Leagues will combine with other surrounding communities if needed. Practice will start mid May weather depending. The season is 5 weeks (10 games) and will have an end of season tournament. Games start the first week in June and finish approximately late July. Due to rainouts, its possible games are played in early August. Junior League (Grades 8-10) games will start in May and will be played within North St. Paul on Monday nights. ** Registration will close April 30th.     Volleyball Bear Cub Camps (Grades 2-5)

    This camp will give young players an opportunity to be introduced to the basics of volleyball in a fun, safe atmosphere. Players will learn basic skills that include passing, serving, setting and hitting. They will get the chance to play on the same courts as the high schoolers!

These skills sessions are focused on producing technique in our players skills in a controlled environment.
  • WBL Summer Nordic Ski

    Summertime is the right time to prepare for the upcoming Nordic ski season! This program will focus on strength, technique, speed and endurance. You can choose from one to four sessions each week. However, the Wednesday option will be of high rigor and is for advanced skier athletes only. Mondays and Wednesdays are evening sessions (6 – 8 PM). Tuesday and Thursdays are morning sessions (8 – 10 AM). The two morning sessions (Tuesday and Thursday) are geared toward newer skiers and the two evening session (M/W) toward more advanced skiers. All sessions will include roller skiing and most will involve some hill bounding, with Wednesdays involving longer and more rigorous hill bounding as a key component. All groups will be together every other Saturday morning for a long endurance roller ski session. The program will focus equally on the classic and skate techniques. Locations will vary; the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday sessions will take place within the ISD 624 boundaries, and the Wednesday and Saturday sessions will be a little further afield, but nearby. Roller skis are required (a combo or classic ski or a set of skate and a set of classic), and helmets are mandatory. There will be some skis available for use, but the supply is limited. All participants will receive a t-shirt! The program will be headed up by Doug Cran, Head Coach of the White Bear Lake Area Schools Nordic Ski Team.     “White Bear Attack and Speed” is a camp designed to enhance athletic coordination, speed, power, agility, and reaction time through fundamental training and small-sided competitive games. Each 50-minute session will work to strengthen your child’s athletic development and build their confidence to better prepare to have fun while being highly competitive in whatever sports or games they play in their future. Please bring proper athletic shoes and attire with a water bottle to each session.     The WBL Lacrosse Club is offering a camp for boys and girls ages 4 to 8 years old. Come learn the basics of lacrosse in this introduction camp-- You will practice skills, passing, dodging, shooting! Dates- August 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15 - Ages 4-6 are at 5-6pm - Ages 7-8 are at 6-7pm Location- Podvin Park Registration $100 which includes 8hrs of instruction, lacrosse stick, player picture, WBLAX shirt Coaches will be from White Bear Lacrosse Association WBLAX * All participants will receive receive a shooter shirt, photos, and a new lacrosse stick
  • Youth Tennis

    WBL Community Ed is excited to partner with the Soar Tennis Academy for kids tennis programming. Soar Tennis was founded by Matt Swigart, a USPTA certified teaching pro who is the winningest all-time Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul. Matt and his coaching staff are excited to work with WBL students and families this summer! DEFINITIONS Beginner - For players who have little to no experience playing tennis. Students will learn each stroke from the very beginning and work on technique in a success-orientated environment. This class uses age-appropriate tennis balls. Intermediate - For players who completed the Beginner class or have some playing experience. Concentration is on improving technique and learning how to control the ball. In class players focus on stroke production, learning to hit to specific targets and point playing experiences. Advanced - Prerequisite: Beg/Inter Class or equivalent experience. Students will concentrate on court positioning, strategy and reviewing and improving their techniques. There will be “player sustained” drills which simulate match play. Learn to play matches! This tennis is for players who have completed at least the intermediate classes and who are interested in learning about playing matches. This is for kids who are going into 5th grade through 9th Grade. Participants must be able to serve the ball in and maintain a rally. Tennis Rainout Policy: Tennis courts become slippery when wet. If it is raining and courts are unplayable, class will be cancelled. You will receive an email or phone call with the notification 30 minutes or earlier prior to your session. If conditions are questionable, please show up for your regularly scheduled start time and we will do our best to get the session in. If class is cancelled due to weather, a makeup session will be held on that Friday. If it rains twice in one week, unfortunately we only add the 1 extra makeup session
