  • Advantage EP: Self-Paced Online ACT Prep Course: Gr 10-12

    Online students prep for the ACT at their own pace and around their busy schedules. Instruction is pre-recorded and provided online via videos and slides. Students may access this course at any time and as often as needed. Upon request, students who are registered for the In-School ACT Prep Course or the Virtual ACT Prep Course may ALSO have access to this online course at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. You have one year to finish this course.
  • A+ Driving School: Online and In person: Age 14-18

    Please register on the A+ Driving School website on their website which can be found by clicking here. Once you go to the A+ Driving website you will then select in-person classes or distance learning. Class Description is below. . . . . . . . . . . This 30-hour program will be conducted by a certified instructor from A+ Driving School and will fulfill the state driver’s education requirement. The course will address the “how to” and “whys” of safe driving. The format of the class will be lecture and active discussion. After completion of the program, students will be able to set up and participate in behind the wheel sessions to meet the six hour state requirement. Students may start classroom driving lessons at age 14, take the Knowledge Test and obtain their Instruction Permit at age 15, and take the Road Test and obtain their Provisional License at age 16. To be eligible to take the Road Test, students must have had their Instruction Permit for a minimum of six months. The Driver's Education Program is divided into two phases: Classroom Phase - teleconference/in-person This phase includes the required 30 hours of classroom instruction that prepares the student to take the Minnesota permit test and to take on the responsibility of driving. If a lesson is missed, a make-up lesson can be arranged with the office at either the next White Bear session or at another of A+'s locations. Behind-the-Wheel Phase After students pass the permit test, they are required to complete six hours of driving lessons. The lessons are provided in three, two-hour lessons. The lessons are one-on-one instruction with instructors licensed through the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Students can be picked up from and dropped off at home, school or work. Detailed information about scheduling the behind-the-wheel lessons will be provided. Parent Involvement A+ Driving School is proud to offer a parent informational meetings in White Bear Lake. **Attending this class will meet the requirement to REDUCE the number of hours that students need to drive with a parent from 50, to 40 hours.**

  • CSGA: Elementary Morning Chess Club: Gr 1-5

    Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, join this club to meet and interact with other chess players in your school and play on a weekly basis. If they are new to the game, players will learn the basic rules and strategies of chess. Tournament play is encouraged outside of the club, but not required. The Winter/Spring Session will include an In-Club Tournament.

  • Spark Equestrian: Academy Day Camp: Age 6-12

    Spark Equestrian’s day camps at Hardwood Creek Farm teach kids the basics of horse care, grooming, and riding. Our indoor arena and barn are heated during the winter months. Kids should provide their own lunch and wear long pants with close-toed shoes. It is recommended to dress in multiple layers as we will be both inside and outside. We play games, do a craft, and make treats for the horses. During the riding portion of camp, students take turns leading each other around while learning how to walk, steer and stop.
  • Online: Code Championship Tournament Series | Virtual Computer Coding Competition: Gr 3-9

    Build a computer bot to play head-to-head against other coders! Whether this is your first Code Championship event, or if you've been competing for years, this is the perfect way to explore the competitive coding world of Code Championship. No previous coding experience necessary. The Code Championship Series is a series of four tournaments in four weeks (it's ok to miss one or two). These tournaments will be hosted online using Google Meet and the Code Championship website. If you have a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox, no additional download is required. Please come knowing how to navigate the internet (basic typing and mouse control). The link to the Google Meet event will be emailed two days before the tournament.     Traditional classroom format with in-person instructors who present test-taking strategies, critical review, and time management for all testing areas of the ACT. This 12-hour course meets one day each week for four weeks.

    Northeast Regional Finals; Chess Tournament Date: Saturday,April 27 Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Check-in will be 30 minutes before the posted start time) Location: Edgewood Middle School Participants: Anticipated sections will be Secondary 7th–12th, Invitational Elementary (Top Club Players), Open Elementary K–1st & 2nd–6th. Concessions Available: Breakfast, Lunch & Snack Items or bring your own. Format & Awards: Based on Grade Level, School, & Number of Participants (K–2nd, 3rd–5th, Secondary) Program description Elementary and secondary chess players are invited to participate in the NE Regional Chess Final. Whether you participated in a chess club or not in the fall, winter, or spring, you are invited to compete in this short, fun tournament where you can play students from other schools and districts. Time controls will be used when necessary to keep the tournament within time constraints. The format and recognitions will be based on the number of registered participants in each grade level and school. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted. Those arriving after the posted start time may need to sit-out of the first round of play. Tournament etiquette and procedures will be explained at the event for players new to tournament play. Players are not eliminated. Everyone plays in each round unless there is a bye because of an odd number of participants. Typically there are 4–5 rounds. Check-in will be 30 minutes before the posted start time. A great way to play new opponents! Supervision will be provided. Parents/guardians are allowed to stay, but are asked to wait outside of the playing area during matches.
  • Skyhawks: Sunday Soccer Camp: Age 3-12

    Using our progression based curriculum, our sport-specific staff will ensure your young athlete will gain the technical skills and sport knowledge required for their next step into soccer. This camp focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting and ball control. Your child will learn life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship, make new friends and improve their sport skills preparing them to play on the playground or league play! Participants should wear athletic clothing and bring a water bottle. This program is split up by age. Please select the appropriate program to enroll in. 1:00pm to 2:00pm for five to seven years old. 2:10pm to 3:10pm for eight to twelve years old. 3:20pm to 3:50pm for three to four years old. This is an outdoor program. You will not have access to the school bathrooms or water fountains during this time.

It has participation from schools all across the United States where students are being offered the opportunity to learn directly from PGA Professionals.
  • Cubing Enrichment Opportunities: Rubik's Cube Conquerors: Gr 2-5

    Join the cubing community! This class is taught by a Rubik's Ambassador/ World Cube Association speedcuber! Learn the basics of cube notation, finger tricks, and essential solving strategies. From there, dive into solving the first layer, unlocking the mysteries of the middle layer, and finally conquering the elusive last layer. Along the way, learn tips and tricks to help you overcome obstacles and speed up your solves. Try out different twisty puzzles, play fun and competitive cubing games, and compete!     The virtual classroom is structured the same as Advantage’s in-person course; however, teaching is provided by an Advantage instructor through a live online classroom where students can interact with the teacher. Internet connection and access to a computer or laptop is required. Class recordings are sent to students needing to make-up any classes.

    Dash Sports soccer Tykes camps provide players with an introductory experience to the game of soccer. Key elements of dribbling, passing, and shooting will be taught and practiced. Fun, skill-based games will be played to practice newly learned skills. Athletes should bring a water bottle (spikes and shin guards optional). Soccer balls are provided. Parent participation is required for the 2-3 year old group and recommended when needed for the 4-5 year old group.

Campers will learn horse care, grooming, feeding and riding skills. There will be time for games, crafts, and we will make treats for the horses. Campers will take turns leading each other around on the horses while learning how to walk, steer and stop. This is one you won't want to miss!

  • Fishing Library: Fishing basics: Gr 3-12

    Join us to learn why fishing is so fun. You will learn about the basics of fishing using a spinning rod and reel. You will be taught how to put on a line, tie a lure and hook, putting on plastic baits on the hook, and casting into water from the shore. You will also learn how to overhand and underhand casting. The entire class will be held on the shores of White Bear Lake so that you can practice casting into water and hopefully have a chance to catch a fish. We will provide the rod, reel, line and lures for you to use in this class. Students aged 16+ will need a fishing license. Dress accordingly to weather.
